Created by renowned garden designer Thomas Mawson, our terrace offers unspoiled views over his famed garden and towards the Langdale fells.
Take a moment to witness our gardens returning to their former glory and gaze across Windermere to see yachts gliding on the glistening waters, and wave at lake cruises ferrying passengers from Bowness to Ambleside and back.
Eventually, your eyes will be drawn to the majestic Lakeland fells on the horizon. From the left, the Coniston fells act as a barrier, protecting the Southern Lake District from the Irish Sea’s worst. Follow the ridgeline to the right to discover the Langdale Pikes, one of the most iconic mountainscapes in the UK.
Time it right to watch the sun set behind the rocky crags while enjoying a glass of something special.

Non residents are welcome but don’t leave it to chance, with a seasonally changing menu make sure you book a table whether popping in with friends or staying for the weekend.
Please note, whilst we do our best to open the terrace as much as possible, we are at the mercy of the Lakeland weather. If the terrace is closed your booking will be moved inside.

Our talented chefs do their best to adapt our dishes to suit your dietary requirements, or where it’s not possible we’ll create you something unique with what we have in the kitchen. Please let us know when you book so we’re prepped for your arrival.
